CITY Personal Injury & Accident Attorney

Have you or a loved one been injured in an accident due to someone else’s negligence? If so, there are numerous medical, personal, and financial issues you’re forced to deal with. It’s traumatic and it’s overwhelming, to say the least. Receiving a fair and just settlement for your injuries shouldn’t be another weight on your shoulders — it should be a welcome relief for you and your family.

I’m a lawyer, and I’ve been a personal injury attorney for over 25 years. I’ve helped thousands of people in CITY and across the State overcome their injuries and receive the compensation they deserve. I have a wonderful and committed team that assists me on a daily basis, but I personally handle every single case that comes across my desk.

What Types of Personal Injuries Can Warrant Compensation?

There’s a wide variety of personal injuries or damages that can warrant compensation. I’ve been handling personal injury cases in the following areas for three decades

Car Accidents

On average, 6 million car accidents occur in the U.S. each year, and nearly 2 million people suffer injury or death as a result, according to Census.gov. In 2012, U.S. motor vehicle crash fatalities increased by 3.3 percent, results mirrored in Colorado, where fatal accidents jumped from 447 in 2011 to 472 in 2012, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Those injured in car accidents in state can typically claim three types of damages: economic damages, which include medical expenses and lost wages; noneconomic damages, such as pain and suffering, and the loss of enjoyment of life; and physical disfigurement and impairment, or the costs of permanent harm or disability.

Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcyclists love STATE for obvious reasons: The breathtaking views of ... are incredible. But motorcycle fatalities in STATE are increasing at a disturbing rate, and in 2011, almost one in five traffic fatalities were motorcyclists, according to the Department of Transportation. STATE is a partial helmet law state, meaning that riders younger than 18 are required to wear a helmet approved by the Department of Transportation, but those 18 and older are not. Because of the limited protection that a motorcycle provides, motorcyclists and their passengers often suffer serious and sometimes fatal injuries when involved in accidents, and may be entitled to compensation for present and future medical expenses, lost wages, and the reduction of future earning capacity.

Truck Accidents

Because of the immense size, weight, and momentum of commercial trucks, trucking accidents often are fatal. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, 317,000 large trucks were involved in traffic accidents in the U.S. during 2012, and 3,921 people were killed. In ..., there were 635 vehicles involved in fatal crashes that year, and 51 of those were large trucks. Individuals who survive a serious truck accident may be able to receive compensation for debilitating back and neck injuries, broken bones, burns, and traumatic brain injury, and families who have lost a loved one in a truck accident may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver or trucking company.

Premises Liability

Most premises liability cases involve slip and fall accidents, which account for more than 8 million hospital emergency room visits in the U.S. each year. In ..., if an owner, operator, or manager negligently fails to keep his property safe and an injury results, the injured party may be able to pursue a premises liability claim. Those most likely to find themselves defending a premises liability lawsuit include the owners or managers of hotels, motels, apartment buildings, shopping centers, swimming pools, sports stadiums, restaurants, bars, and movie theaters. Compensation can include medical and rehab expenses, loss of income and earning capacity, and noneconomic damages such as pain and suffering. The amount of noneconomic damages allowed in ... is currently limited to $5,000,000.

Personal Injury Compensation: Economic & Non-Economic Damages

If you’ve been injured in CITY, or anywhere across STATE, as the result of someone else’s negligence, contact me today and we can discuss whether there is grounds to file a personal injury claim. If you have a case, the amount of your compensation will be based upon your measurable injuries, or damages, arising from the incident. Damages serve to compensate, or make whole, the injured party, and return them to their pre-injury condition (or as close as possible).

Compensation is usually divided into two categories: economic, or special damages, and non-economic, or general damages. Economic damages are losses that may be documented by bills, receipts, and business and wage records, and usually include medical bills, lost wages, and other measurable losses. Non-economic damages are intangible losses that are usually more difficult to quantify, such as pain and suffering and emotional distress.

What’s My Personal Injury Case Worth?

The worth of a personal injury lawsuit is based upon the quantifiability of the damages incurred. These damages are measured in terms of the amount of money lost (and anticipated to be lost in the future) on medical bills, wages, earning capacity, and pain and suffering. There is no black-and-white answer to how much a case may be worth, as factors such as health history, mitigation of damages, and the patient’s compliance regarding accident-related medical treatment can increase or decrease an award significantly.

If you were recently injured due to the negligence of another, you need an experienced personal injury lawyer to help you achieve a fair resolution. It’s essential that your legal counsel accurately assess the damages you may be entitled to. I have over 25 years of personal injury experience properly assessing damages, and fighting to get my clients the compensation they deserve for their injuries.
